Building on my previous automotive experience, with One Nine Media lead by Supercars diver Scott Pye, we were able to take it to another level. Servicing automotive brands like Mazda Australia to provide fast turnaround footage for editorial outlets and for Mazda’s own social media.
This provided excellent coverage of the features of each vehicle involved, as well as rolling tracking gig and drive-by footage in a variety of scenarios. We were able to capitalise on recent industry advances in automotive grip rigs, enabling us, with a small team, to capture footage that would have previously requited a much larger crew, permits, policing and road closures to create.
This enabled clients like Mazda Australia to build a bank of quality b-roll coverage of their products, in a variety of scenarios and driving environments.
Through our work, Mazda were able to maintain a quality of vision depicting their vehicles and the editorial pieces to camera reviewing them.
Our ONM crew in these productions were lead by Scott Pye, with myself, Tony Gardiner ASC and Ben Graham. We were also fortunate to be able to contract some amazing drone operators onto the team.
This body of work with Mazda in 2022 alone covered the press launches of BT-50, CX-5, MX-5, and CX-60. The showreel below showcases some of our ONM work up to mid-year 2022.
Following that below, are further samples of our work shooting and editing for social media content, and some VFX finishing work to localise the global content for the launch of the first CX-90 in Australia.
It takes a experienced team that understands vehicle movent to shoot good automotive work. Even more so with a small team. We were able to refine this style of “minimal impact” on road shooting to involve a crew of only a few people.
